Visitor Center Open House
Owego, N.Y. – The Tioga County Tourism Office will host an Open House on March 1, 2019, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. for the new Tioga County Visitor Center at The Gateway Building, 200-204 Front Street, Owego. The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m.
The Tioga County Visitor Center (TCVC) is located at the back of the first floor of the building overlooking a large deck, the Owego Riverwalk, and the Susquehanna River. “It’s a beautiful space. We are excited for the warmer months so visitors can really enjoy the deck and the gorgeous river views,” said Loreen Maley, Assistant Director, Tioga County Tourism. The TCVC will have tourism information on Tioga County, the Finger Lakes Region, and New York State and will provide one-on-one assistance with travel in the region during open hours. “We are excited to be in a high-traffic area of the Village and hope to be able to interact with more visitors and tell them about all of the fun things to do in the county and the region,” said Rebecca Maffei, Director, Tioga County Tourism. “In the near future, we hope to have digital displays to promote our events, advertising displays for tourism businesses, and to be an exhibit space for Tioga County artists,” she said.
The Open House will begin with the ribbon cutting and will be open to the public and invited guests. A new exhibit, “The View From Here,” will feature local artist from around Tioga County and is curated by local artist Alice Mischke. The Open House coincides with Owego’s First Friday, a monthly event where shops stay open later, some restaurants have entertainment, and extra activities take place throughout the shopping district from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“We welcome everyone to come and see the new Tioga County Visitor Center. It’s really an incredible space,” said Maffei.Visitor Center Open HouseDate and Time
