Getting Your Writing In Print

Wendy Post, editor of The Owego Pennysaver and The Troy Pennysaver Plus, its sister paper in Troy, Pa., will present at the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce’s Lunch and Learn Seminar, planned for Sept. 14 at the Owego Treadway.
On Sept. 14, from noon to 1:30 p.m., Wendy Post, editor of multiple newspapers, will provide guests with the basics of writing a press release at Owego's Treadway Banquet Center, and as part of the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce's Lunch and Learn program.
Oftentimes it is difficult to construct a press release that clearly communicates the topic you are writing about; whether it's the promotion of an upcoming event, or the announcement of a grant received by your organization. Harder yet is to work in partnership with media to send out releases that are suitable for print.
Post will discuss the ins and outs of working with the media, and will offer some media release samples and offer tips for getting your writing in print.
Joining Post at the seminar will be Mary Roper, who has an extensive background in radio and marketing. Roper will be available for questions from guests following the presentation.
Post has an extensive background in media. A U.S. Army veteran paratrooper, Post went on to do writing for the Department of Defense and eventually settled into her position now as editor of The Owego Pennysaver and The Troy Pennysaver Plus, its sister paper in Troy, Pa. Post is also a contributor to other print publications in the region and serves as the co-chair for Owego's Strawberry Festival, among others.
The cost of the seminar is $20 for Tioga County Chamber of Commerce members and $25 for non-members, and includes lunch.
