Sparked by the #MeToo movement and heightened public attention, the issue of sexual
harassment in the workplace has risen to the forefront of media and legislative focus.
There is also a growing intolerance even for conduct that might previously have been
tolerated because it did not rise to the level of legal harassment. In April, New York
passed laws designed to make it harder for businesses to require arbitration of sexual
harassment claims or to settle those with confidentiality clauses. Soon, all New York
employers will be required to have in place a written anti-harassment policy, to provide
employees with a standard complaint form, and to conduct annual anti-harassment
training. Are you prepared to handle complaints, conduct investigations, train
employees and address this issue in your workplace?
Who should attend:
Supervisors, owners, human resources managers
and staff of any business in the Tioga County
Chamber of Commerce. The Human Resources
Roundtable is geared toward businesspersons
with varying levels of personnel management
training and experience.
